Simon Mabon

Professor Simon Mabon, a distinguished scholar in International Politics, navigates the crossroads of Middle East Studies, International Relations, and Political Theory. His profound research delves into sovereignty's complexities, Saudi Iranian relations, sectarianism, de-sectarianization, nomos, and the Arab Uprisings. As the Director of SEPAD, generously supported by Carnegie Corporation and The Henry Luce Foundation, he explores the empirical manifestations of these issues. Prof. Mabon's influential publications, including "The Struggle for Supremacy in the Middle East" (Cambridge University Press, 2023) and "Houses built on sand" (Manchester University Press, 2020), underscore his commitment to unraveling the intricate dynamics shaping the region. Currently, he is engrossed in a forthcoming book on Middle Eastern sectarianism for Yale University Press.
